Setting

The setter has one of the most important roles on the team! If you don't have a good setter you won't have a very good/consistent team. Setting is a very difficult skill to prefect, your hands have to be in the same position as if you were "drinking a two litre of coke". You have to have "soft" hands, meaning you can not attack the ball, you have to absorb it. The setter has to take charge of the court and go for the second ball of every rally! The setter has a huge role to fulfil, and must be the leader on the court.

Spiking

Spiking is a very impressive skill that many volleyball athletes are gifted with. It takes a lot of hard work and dedication to become a good hitter, it doesn't typically come naturally. It is the best way to rack up the points. Many inexperienced players would start to tip in a tight game, a good volleyball player won't stop hitting because they know that a good hit is harder to dig than a tip! The foot work for a right handed hitter is left, right, left. You pull back your arm into a "bow and arrow" position, and swing when the ball is at its highest point in the air.

Underhand Passing (Bumping)

How to make the perfect underhand pass also known as a bump? Being low to the ground and having your arms at a 90 degree angle is a great start to making a perfect pass. When you contact the ball you don't want to swing your arms at the ball, because you will have less control as to where the ball goes! You must also tuck your chin in and push up with your legs! You will know if you made a perfect pass if the ball lands on the head of your setter!! Passing is the most important skill and its the most used skill in volleyball.

Volleyball

Volleyball is a mental game, it is a game of endurance and focus! Losing mental focus for a split second can let the other team go on a run, and that loss of focus can be the difference between winning and losing a game. Volleyball is a game of "inches". An inch can be the difference of getting the perfect dig or a shank! One inch could be what wins you a game. The most focused and determined team will come out of that game victorious. Volleyball is 20% skill and 80% focus.  To me volleyball is the greatest sport ever invented! You have to be a determined and mentally strong to play the crazy, intense game of volleyball!
